LETTER COMBINATIONS

Vowel Combinations

Picture

Vowel combinations are tricky  to remember. When I was a kid, I was taught that "when two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking." Unfortunately, this works less than 50% of the time. To help students learn the sounds the vowel combination make, I have created visuals that connect these combos with their sounds. The stories and rhymes help to solidify this connection.

Consonant Combinations

Consonant combinations are often connected to a spelling rule. Take 'ck' for example. This consonant combination comes after a short vowel. How are kids to remember this, along with all the other spelling rules in English? These visuals, with their corresponding stories and rhymes, will definitely help!
